Honoring Their Mothers’ Legacies

By preparing children for the future.

The Moore-Myers Children’s Fund was inspired by Annie Moore, a teacher, and Jessie Myers, an entrepreneur and mentor to many. Both women dedicated their lives to improving the lives of others, especially the lives of children.

In 2014, two of their own children, Dr. Justine Redding, daughter of Annie, and Richard Blackston, son of Jessie, created the Moore-Myers Children’s Fund to preserve their mothers’ legacies and to continue fostering their mission, ensuring that the lives of children will be positively impacted for years to come.

Our Passion

Because Dr. Redding was almost as passionate about golf as she was about educating children, the Moore-Myers Children’s Fund uses golf as a backdrop for teaching not only the skills necessary to succeed in the sport, but also the skills necessary to succeed in life.

My son has been a been the recipient of this organization’s support for the last few years and it has made a huge impact in his life and lives of so many other students like him. When he entered the program, he was struggling academically and socially. Much to our surprise, golf became a place where our very energetic son turned into someone very disciplined, focused, goal-oriented—a completely different child than almost anywhere else.

Moore-Myers is fun! I have learned about grip, aim and posture. Playing golf with all the kids and coaches is a great experience. My instructor Mr. Ted Hopkins is the best and says I will hit it to the end of the driving range someday. I have won some of the tournaments I have entered. Remember that being early is on time, being on time is late, and late is unacceptable.

Moore-Myers has been a great help to me and my golf game. My game and confidence have improved so much thanks to the support of the coaches, tournaments and weekly growth programs they set up. I want to thank Moore Myers for everything you have done to help me get better with my game.

Moore-Myers connected me with an outstanding coach and mentor. They helped me to build confidence, public speaking skills and obtain college scholarships. Through my involvement as an eagle, I was able to make friends, participate in tournaments, and grow my golf skill level and my understanding of the game and its rules. I feel prepared as I take my next steps into college because of the values and skills I learned in MMCF.
